Without question the new for 1962 Galaxie line could be considered luxury cars at that time; lavish in comfort, convenience and appointments. And that was the manner in which the majority of these cars were built and sold, but 1962 was also a year for performance and the Galaxie line not only offered six-cylinder cars. They had five different eight-cylinder engine packages available and the well finished car on offer is powered by the 390-cid, 300-hp V-8 that also has the optional floor-mounted four-speed “short-stick” manual transmission. The two-door Club Sedan is finished in Rangoon Red and has complementary all-vinyl, pleated tri-tone interior and is finely detailed from the engine compartment to the trunk. Additional features include power steering and a heater. The “sleeper” aspect of a car like this is always entertaining when being driven, the family sedan incognito and ready to perform.
