The Monte Carlo was another success story from a company that could list a lot of them. A mid sized coupe marketed as a personal luxury car, with a restyle about to happen and the previous year being a record setter there was little reason for Chev to change the Monte Carlo for 1977. As such and with the full sized GM line already getting a revamp which left them smaller, the 77 Monte Carlo enjoys the curious position of being the only time in General Motors history that their mid size offering was larger than their full size cars.
