The 1954 Mercury was given an attractive facelift, starting with a massive combination grille and bumper assembly, which announced the arrival of the “Big M.” Wraparound taillights were used on the redesigned quarter panels, which provided warning to those behind and beside the car. This was also the first year for the two-door hardtop and the first year for the overhead-valve V-8. This 1954 Monterey Hardtop Coupe does a fine job of showing off the new styling, and it received a stunning body-off restoration some years ago. The efforts resulted in an AACA National First Place AACA Award in 1991. The original engine and transmission have been rebuilt, and all exterior stainless trim was professionally buffed.
