Ford Motor Company’s ill-fated Edsel is derided for its unconventional styling, but perhaps its real mistake was to aim at a market segment that wasn’t there. Priced both below and above Mercury, it was a real enigma. By the time product planners realized it could not succeed as both a lower-middle and upper-middle priced car, its image had been irreparably tarnished.

This Edsel Citation, the top of the line, has a very good three-tone repaint. It suffers only from a small chip in the finish. The brightwork is generally good, with just a bit of age showing on die-cast pieces. The white-and-turquoise vinyl interior looks original, apart from new carpet. The engine compartment shows good detail but will benefit from careful cleaning. It is equipped with an AM radio, windshield washers, power steering, power brakes and seat belts.
