In 1963 West Coast Triumph distributor Bill Johnson of Johnson Motors came up with the idea for a high performance, factory race bike at which point the Triumph TT entered the history books. Seen here in the very popular factory Pacific Blue over Silver paint scheme, this 1965 Bonneville TT Special was at its production still an option package for the T120C scrambler series.

Much more than a stripped down version of the street scrambler, it featured larger 1-3/16” carbs, hotter cams, higher compression (11.2:1) and the very cool big-tube TT pipes minus mufflers of course. Taken to the bare bones, the bikes weighed 350 pounds, some 30 pounds lighter than the stock Bonneville. Throughout the ‘60s, they were top dog on U.S. off-road tracks and naturally fearsome when placed in road trim.

Setting off the tank is the classic "harmonica grille” tank badge. From the Baker Collection, this ’65 Bonnie appears at least exceptionally restored if not original. Oil and gas all that’s needed for getting it up and TT’ing.
