  • Diminutive tribute to the Ferrari 553 F1
  • Completely original and in exceptional condition
  • "This is the Ferrari of child racers"

This rare Squalo Child Racer was built by Grand Prix of El Monte, California, and was designed in the likeness of the Ferrari 553 F1 race cars of 1954. It is powered by a race-prepared 2-hp AU7R 'Redseal' Continental engine with direct chain 12-24 drive. The Squalo features four-wheel independent suspension with adjustable torsion bars and dampers, shoe-type interval braking, and a square-tube chassis for exceptional rigidity. The wheels are even made of magnesium, for added strength and weight reduction. The beautiful three-piece body allows for quick removal of the tail and cowl sections for speedy pit stops.

This little Grand Prix Squalo was sold new in 1956 at a sporting goods store in eastern Pennsylvania at an advertised cost of $575. It was subsequently packed away new and never used until some 62 years later, when it was found in original and pristine condition. It is without a doubt one of the rarest children's cars available, ideal for the next Mike Hawthorn, Umberto Maglioli, or José Froilán González.
