Engine no. H257450

23rd Series. 135-hp, 288-cid L-head inline eight-cylinder engine, three-speed manual transmission, independent coil spring front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 120-inches

The Packard Motor Car Company celebrated its first half-century with a Golden Anniversary 23rd Series in mid-1949. Changes from the revolutionary 22nd Series of 1948 included oval taillights, revised bumpers, a new hood ornament and a larger rear window.

Formerly owned by Streeter B. Flynn, an Oklahoma railroad historian and collector of rail memorabilia and sports and classic cars, this 23rd Series Packard has been selectively restored from an original car in very good condition. Painted in medium gray, it has excellent body contours. The brightwork shows just a hint of aging. The seats are upholstered in a checker-pattern blue-gray cloth and the headliner is tan mohair, all in very good condition. The instrument panel has excellent wood grain, and the odometer shows barely 36,000 miles, believed correct. The engine, chassis and underbody appear largely original, entirely solid but with some signs of age and use throughout.

Accessories include radio, heater, clock, fog lamps and a pair of clamp-on door mirrors.
