Finally announced in April of 2019, the eight-generation Corvette was undoubtably the most hotly anticipated vehicle introduced thus far into the 21st century. Since the days of Zora Arkus-Duntov, Chevrolet had been flirting with the idea of a mid-engined Corvette and although the decision divided Corvette loyalists, it was decided that the only way to outperform the competition was to move the Corvette to a mid-engine platform.

At its heart was a 6.2-litre, naturally aspirated V-8 engine capable of producing 490 bhp (or 495 bhp with the optional NPP performance exhaust). The sprint to 60 mph from a standstill would take just 2.9 seconds, thanks in part to its new 8-speed dual-clutch automated transmission, leading to a top speed of 194 mph. Chevrolet designed the C8 with its European competitors squarely in its sights, making massive improvements on interior quality to keep up with its performance. But perhaps its most competitive area was its base price in its home market: $59,995 USD. To put this into perspective, this is a car with Porsche 911 Turbo levels of performance with an MSRP less than that of a 718 Cayman.

This specific Corvette was built for the Canadian market and later exported to the Netherlands and registered in Germany. Finished in Arctic White, it is equipped with the top-level 3LT trim package which includes GT2 seats trimmed in Napa leather and carbon fibre trim with further suede and leather trim in the interior. It is also equipped with the Z51 performance package, further enhancing the car’s performance with uprated Brembo brakes, suspension, exhaust, cooling system, a limited slip differential, a more aggressive rear axle ratio, and revised front and rear spoilers, in addition to the NPP performance exhaust.

Additional options include five-spoke wheels in Spectra Grey, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, the front nose lifter, Z51 engine appearance package, brake calipers in Bright Red, a suede-wrapped steering wheel, the engine appearance package, engine cover in Edge Red, rocker panel extensions in black, illuminated sill plates with Stingray logo, and painted side mirrors in Carbon Flash Metallic.

With C8 Corvette deliveries in Europe beginning in Spring 2022, this example represents an amazing opportunity to jump the cue and have one of the very first C8s exported to Europe. Ready to drive and enjoy, the navigation system has even been loaded with EU maps and would surely make for a wondeful car to drive and enjoy this summer.
