The 1969 Hurst/Olds was produced in limited numbers by Oldsmobile and Hurst Performance Research. Based on the 4-4-2 Holiday Coupe, it is considered by many enthusiasts to be the ultimate Oldsmobile muscle car, with eye-grabbing styling and asphalt-melting performance.

Powered by a massive 455-cubic-inch, 380-horsepower, W-30 V-8 engine, this example features an automatic transmission operated via one of Hurst’s legendary Dual-Gate shifters. Atop the hood there are large dual air inlets to admit cold and dense fresh air—as well as intimidate would-be stoplight challengers. Other bold features include stripes in Firefrost Gold and a rear spoiler that, it was claimed, utilized its negative lift properties to turn high-speed air turbulence into road-grabbing rear traction. Low-drag racing-type mirrors and distinctive Hurst/Olds emblems on the front quarter panels added to its menacing stance (although it was well-established that the rear badge would be the one most viewed by other drivers).

Beneficiary of a frame-off nut-and-bolt restoration completed approximately 16 years ago, this car is listed in the Hurst/Olds Registry as number 226 of approximately 906 built. It is one of the more well equipped 1969 cars produced, featuring rare, optional factory air conditioning in addition to power steering and brakes, 3.23:1 limited-slip differential, power driver’s seat, cruise control, tilt steering, tic-toc-tach, speed minder, courtesy light group, power trunk release, AM/FM stereo with 8-track tape player and Firestone G70-16 raised white-letter tires on distinctive Super Stock wheels.
