Arguably the most iconic and recognizable 911 ever built, the Carrera RS of 1973 further defined the sporting character of the 911 S, an excellent car in its own right. Offering increased power, improved handling, reduced weight, and a balanced, yet aggressive silhouette, this homologation model quickly gained admirers on both road and track. With only 1,580 examples built, the 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 has become incredibly sought after. With original examples becoming more difficult to find, its no wonder that there is a market for more pedestrian 911s to be converted to Carrera RS replicas, or tributes, such as the example here.

Finished in traditional Grand Prix White with Guards Red wheels and matching Carrera rocker panel script, this 911 started life as a 1972 example. It is equipped with a 3.2-liter Carrera engine from 1984-1989, which is mated to a type 915 five-speed transmission with a short shifter. The car also boasts a quick-release steering wheel, kill switch, and three-piece Fuchs wheels. Unfortunately, it is not known who did the conversion to its current specification, although the work is believed to have been completed about a decade ago. The car’s current custodian retrimmed the seats with the attractive tartan inserts.

With original 911 Carrera RS out of reach for many enthusiasts, such tributes to the iconic RS 2.7 provide a comparable experience to the original for a fraction of the cost. The consignor states that this car is very well dialed in and a thrill to drive and enjoy, be it at one’s local Cars & Coffee gathering or track day event.
