This 1958 Metropolitan is powered by a 91-cid, 52-hp, inline four-cylinder engine from the Austin A-50 and is coupled to a three-speed manual transmission. Standard equipment includes rear-mounted Continental kit spare tire, a smaller version of AMC’s famous “Weather-Eye” heater, AM radio and bumper guards. The car has an 85-inch wheelbase and is finished in two-tone turquoise and white with a black interior. Produced in a joint venture by AMC and Austin of England, Car Life referred to the Metropolitan as a “big car in miniature” because its many standard items would have cost extra on other cars of its day.
