Chassis no. FJ40219760

135-hp, 4,230-cc. OHV inline six-cylinder engine, four-speed manual transmission with two-speed transfer case, live axles with semi-elliptic leaf springs, and front-disc, rear-drum hydraulic brakes. Wheelbase: 90-inches

Toyota’s Land Cruiser sport utility vehicle is the longest-lived model in the company’s history. The first, developed from Jeep specifications, went into production in 1951. The best-known model, the FJ40, dates from 1960. From then to 1984, more than a million were built.

This FJ40 has been carefully restored. Its perfect panels have been correctly painted in red, accented in white by the grille and wheels. It is equipped with dual door mirrors, directional signals, heater-defroster and a front-mounted winch. A Zerostart engine heater has been added for sure starts in cold weather. The 4.2-liter 2F engine shows some signs of use, but in no way detracts from the tidiness of the engine compartment. The undercarriage is similarly sanitary. The tires are B.F. Goodrich Mud Terrain T/As, showing very little use.

The seats are upholstered in black vinyl, and black rubber mats line the floor. The rear compartment has side-facing fold-down seats, accessed from side-hinged “barn doors” at the rear. FJ40 Land Cruisers have developed a devoted following. This is a chance to acquire an excellent example.
