Ford’s Convertible Sedan, introduced in 1935, quickly made inroads into the sales of the Phaeton model. The new car’s roll-up side windows made touring in inclement weather much more pleasant and comfortable, compared to the fitting of the Phaeton’s side curtains at the first drops of rain. By 1936, the Convertible Sedan was outselling the Phaeton, but customers now wanted weather protection for their luggage, too. Ford responded in mid-year, with a bustle-shaped integral trunk, replacing the earlier sloped rear profile with exposed spare tire.

This trunk-back Convertible Sedan presents very well in the archetypal Ford color Washington Blue. The seats are upholstered in brown vinyl, and the car has a tan canvas top, which shows mild staining. Accessories include a steering column-mounted vacuum-powered fan, fog lights, clock, spyder wheel trim and a rare factory radio, with head unit in the dashboard and electronics with Ford-script speaker behind the steering column. Hidden directional signals have been very cleverly installed for safe driving in modern traffic. Ideal for touring, this Convertible Sedan keeps both passengers and luggage warm and dry.
