In 1963 Ford offered the Galaxie 500 in several engine options as Ford tried to maximize its ties with NASCAR. These options would change as the year played out making for some incredible race cars. Appearing in mid 1963, the 500 was based on Ford's newest NASCAR efforts, proving to be an instant sales success. Ford produced a series of 427 cubic inch displacement vehicle engines for the Galaxie with the two 4-Barreled carbureted R-code 427 being of the highest performance. Ford rated the R-Code engine at a modest 425hp and reported quarter mile times in the low 12 second range at just under 120mph. This particular Rangoon Red R-Code Galaxie was restored in 2004, including a 4-year disassembly of the all the mechanical body and interior parts. Complemented by a 4-speed transmission, independent front suspension, and 4-wheel disc brakes, this R-code Galaxie is for a true performance enthusiast.
