Porsche debuted the 914 at the Frankfurt Auto Show in 1969. From then until 1976, Porsche built over 115,000 914s, an impressive number given the car’s unique design and character. The 914 was extraordinarily low and smooth looking in its appearance. The roomy interior allowed comfortable seating for two tall adults with few restrictions. Ample storage is provided by utilizing storage compartments both under the front hood and rear deck lid, making touring more pleasurable and convenient.

This exceptional example was special ordered in late 1974 by a Navy submarine officer who specified that it be painted Ice Green, a 911-only color, and trimmed in beige leatherette interior. It is the only known 914 painted this rare exclusive 911 color. It was also ordered with the upgraded interior appearance package that consisted of a center console, gauges, etc. The 2.0-liter engine powering this car, with the improved side-shift five-speed transmission, is widely considered by most Porsche enthusiasts to be the most desirable four-cylinder offered in the 914 during its production run.

In 2013, the owner of this 914 commissioned a Porsche specialist to perform a complete restoration of the body and paint. A color-matched, tinted, slightly rubberized undercoating was applied to the bottom of the car to protect it on future journeys. All body hardware was repaired or renewed at the same time. The engine was pulled to properly paint the engine bay, as well. While the engine was out it was inspected, cleaned, and resealed before being reinstalled. A new correct, high-quality dashboard and tan carpets were also installed.

Since the paint and restoration work was completed, this 914 has been driven carefully and sparingly in recent years, and now shows only 74,000 original miles. Included with the car is the original owner’s manual with service stamps documenting its limited mileage. An excellent example of a well-cared for original, but thoughtfully restored where necessary.
