One of this collection’s focuses is on the pleasures of vintage racing, using properly set-up, maintained, and “dialed-in” cars from all eras and genres of competition. This has extended to the world of modern NASCAR racing, and the collection has over the years acquired several retired NASCAR Cup competitors from Hendrick Motorsports, one of the most dominant teams in modern stock-car racing.

According to information on file from Mark Anderson of Hendrick Motorsports, this NASCAR Impala was built for road courses and driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr. five times during the 2012, 2013, and 2014 NASCAR Cup seasons, achieving a podium finish with 3rd at Sonoma in June 2014. Subsequent to its retirement, it was returned to Hendrick Motorsports and eventually acquired for the current collection. As part of the builder’s Certified Race Cars program, it was meticulously rebuilt prior to delivery by Lance McGrew and his team using authentic, period-correct road course components. A Hendrick Racing certified Chevrolet R07 carbureted race engine was also installed. Following delivery the car was set up to receive a passenger seat, as per the former owner’s request, as he enjoyed taking friends for rides – and testing their nerves – at local road courses!

In excellent overall condition, and prepared by one of the greatest teams in NASCAR history, this podium-winning example is reported to be a genuine thrill to drive on the track. It is an excellent “driver’s car”—not a museum piece, but one that has been enjoyed and used as intended, by both “Junior” and the current collection. It would be an ideal mount for a new owner to open up and enjoy.
