The 1956 Caribbean Convertible was the last full size Packard produced. Although most updates for 1956 were minor, one of the most attractive new features were the reversible seat cushions—leather on one side and elegant boucle cloth on the other. The highest rating in the industry, Packard’s 374-cubic inch V-8 engine produced 310 horsepower. At $5,995, the Caribbean was breathtaking, and accordingly, Packard was able to sell only a limited 276 convertibles and 263 coupes.

The example offered here is a fantastic Caribbean convertible that benefited from a thorough frame-up restoration several years go. It features the baby blue center color scheme, which is repeated on the opulent upholstery with the reversible seat cushions. Features include power windows, a power top, and dual antennae. Externally, the paint and trim is just starting to show the patina of age, while the underside is still tidy from minimal road use. One of the finest motor cars of the 1950s, this particular Caribbean was even featured in Disney’s nationally televised Festival of Lights Parade in 2005.
