When Studebaker updated the styling of its 1956 cars, the sultry Raymond Loewy-designed coupes were kept in production. Modernized with Mercedes-like grilles and curvaceous tail fins, they became Studebaker Hawks, offered as both hardtop and pillared coupes and with several different engines.

For 1959, the Silver Hawk was the top of the line, and could be had with either V-8 or six-cylinder power. This car was originally a six, but has been up-rated with a four-barrel Studebaker V-8 with automatic transmission, resulting in very spritely performance. Other equipment includes a heater, dual door mirrors, seatbelts and a Clarion AM/FM/cassette stereo in the original dashboard location, with JVC speakers in the rear.

In large measure a refreshed original car, it has very nice black-and-silver gray interior and excellent body contours. As one of just 7,788 Hawks built in 1959, it represents a very small constituency.
