A new King Midget was announced in mid-1957. This third series was improved in many ways, and the design was sound enough to continue until the end of production in 1970. The major redesign included a more modern body style that was being manufactured as a semi-monocoque, with all body, frame, and fender components welded together as a unit for strength. The wheelbase was lengthened, front and rear tracks were widened, and tire size was increased to 5.70x8. The brakes were hydraulic to all four wheels.

In about 1959, the mahogany doors were changed to aluminum; in 1961, the six volt electrics were changed to 12; and in 1966, the faithful Wisconsin engine was finally replaced by a 12 horsepower Kohler K301. A Borg-Warner one-way clutch came in 1967. The aluminum doors changed to steel towards the end, and the weight was now at 700 pounds. The canvas top was changed for a vinyl one in black or white. New paint colours were Corinthian White, Rangoon Red, yellow, blue, and aqua, all sourced from Ford. The typical long list of accessories was retained. This well-traveled car had a special place in a German museum for many years, as they are rarely seen overseas.
