Radical in its day, Oldsmobile’s Toronado demonstrated that large engines and front-wheel drive are not incompatible.
While somewhat disheveled at first glance, this Olds Toronado is better than it looks. Although the paint has some ominous rust spots, the vinyl roof is tight and firm, needing only a good scrubbing. The Deluxe vinyl interior has no tears, wear or failed stitches, and the brown carpet should clean up well. The engine compartment and undercarriage are both unrestored and soiled, but should respond to concerted detailing. Equipped with power steering, power brakes, power windows, air conditioning and cruise control, this car could be a sleeper.
