This 1974 Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce is a long-term Bay Area example, originally purchased in San Leandro, California. The car was serviced early on at the respected Griswold & Co in Berkeley, and more recently has been helped through its 2013 restoration by well-known Alfa authorities that include Glen Oliveria and Jon Norman.

The body was restored in its original dark red and the Spica fuel injection has been properly rebuilt and tuned. The consignor conveys that the car drives effortlessly and pulls very strongly.

The inline four-cylinder engine measures 1,962-cc with 129 horsepower and is connected to a five-speed manual gearbox. The Spica fuel-injection has been properly rebuilt and tuned. The car also has four-wheel disc brakes.

The interior was completely restored, including the headliner. Bucket seats and center console are featured in the interior design. New carpet is present inside the cabin and in the trunk; all new rubber seals are installed. The front and rear windows were professionally installed. A Nardi wood steering wheel is a nice extra.

The full-body prep for paint is impressive, as the panels are painted with five coats of color and seven coats of clear (wet sanded with 2000-grit between coats). The car has retained a period auto-reverse Pioneer tape deck.

The consignor relates that every system in the car has been gone through, and whenever parts were needed, they were sourced from John Norman Alfa Parts, International Motors, or APE. All the receipts are included in the sale.

The transmission was rebuilt by John Norman. The driveshaft and “donut” were also re-done. All brakes and hoses were replaced or rebuilt, the tires are new, and the radiator was flushed and repaired. The gas tank was cleaned and re-coated, and a new electric fuel pump and filter were added.

The car rides at the full USA-spec height and the odometer reads approximately 14,000 miles and are stated to be actual.
