Aston Martin’s new DB9 Volante of 2006 was inarguably the most exciting standard-bearer that the company had produced since its V8 range. As Road & Track described the model in November 2007, “The drop-top DB9 is one of a rare breed that provides sports-car thrills when pushed to its limits, while at the same time is capable of coddling you in incredible comfort. This ability to deliver pace and grace comes from the car’s combination of wheels placed at the far corners, lightweight aluminum construction with 50/50 weight balance, and a storming 449-brake horsepower 6.0-liter V-12 under the hood.” Acceleration from 0–60 mph in less than 5 seconds and a top speed of 180 mph were both promised.

Service invoices on file indicate that the Volante offered here was delivered new to Arthur Gelfand of Bernardsville, New Jersey, by Ray Catena Aston Martin of Edison. Mr. Gelfand initially financed the car before directing it into his personal ownership, reflecting the three owners shown on the clean CARFAX report. The invoices document routine maintenance and servicing of the car through Mr. Gelfand’s ownership, ending in 2010, when it passed to another dealer and then, the following year, into Stephanie Smith’s ownership. Shortly before she took delivery, the car was again properly serviced, this time by Aston Martin of New England, with invoices for $1,354.37 of work on file. She has enjoyed occasional use of the car since, while it has been well looked-after in the fashion typical of the Smiths’ automobiles.

The Ghillies Green Pearl paint and Kestrel Tan interior appear fresh and virtually new, with the exception of very small blemishes around the edge of the hood and some minor rock chips in the wheel wells, and overall the car appears much newer than its 14,718 actual miles. The Volante is complete with its leather-bound DB9 Owner’s Guide, Aston Martin car cover in its original fitted bag, the original fitted umbrella still in its factory plastic wrapping, and the original jack.

Now ready to pass into its next owner’s loving hands, this Aston Martin is ready for continued fun under the Florida sun, just as it has been carefully enjoyed by its current caretaker.
