Ford for 1959 was basically a continuation of the facelifts that began with 1957’s all-new model. The ’59 Ford was updated, though still conservative, using a bumper and squared-off grille reminiscent of the ’58 Thunderbird and quad headlights, floating star-like ornaments, and simple side moldings. 1959 was the last year Ford produced the Skyliner retractable hardtop, but the soft topped Sunliner convertibles, such as this example, would continue to be produced for many years to come.

Although not documented, this is believed to be an original 43,000-mile car. It has has many features and areas of patina that reflect originality. Several items have also been updated in order to keep a roadworthy car such as new brake hoses, four new wheel cylinders, new brake shoes, and new shocks. It also has a new fuel tank, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, new carburetor, new water pump and a good set of Firestone radial tires. The body has been professionally repainted in the correct Colonial White around 1994. The engine is a 292-cid Y-block with a brand new two-barrel carburetor. The valve covers, complete air cleaner, radiator, and other small items have been professionally refinished & repainted. The interior is breathtaking in its correct tri-color red, black, and white accented with silver, also in original condition. Both front and rear seats and door panels are incredible and in original condition with no rips/tears/defects. The pushbutton radio is the original unit and is noted to be functional. With the top up or down, this is a very attractive original style convertible that can be appreciated for its proper upkeep and appearance.
