  • Three owners and just under 3,000 miles from new
  • The first year of Lamborghini’s iconic Diablo, one of 401 built for 1991

Nineteen ninety-one was a big year at Lamborghini, as it marked the departure of the iconic Countach and the first year of production of the all-new Diablo.

Number 283 of just 401 examples built for that first year of production, the Diablo presented here is an exceptionally well-preserved and highly original example. Delivered new to the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, it was finished in red over a black leather interior, and outfitted with red interior piping and a rear wing, with an MSRP of $245,310. The car was retained by its first owner for nearly 14 years before it was purchased by its second owner, also from the Philadelphia area, in 2011. By this time, the car had only been driven 1,111 miles from new.

The Diablo’s second owner kept the car for the following five years before selling it to a third owner in Auburn, Alabama, who kept the car until last year. As of the time of cataloguing, the car had been driven just 2,955 miles from new, exceptionally low mileage for a first-year Diablo. Its most recent major service was completed at 2,236 miles at a cost of just under $20,000 by Lamborghini Orlando. This included a new clutch, new valve cover gaskets, a new alternator and A/C belts, new radiator hoses, a new thermostat, new air and fuel filters, as well as new axle seals, and the car has been fitted with new Michelin tires. In addition, the car comes with its original window sticker, owner’s manual and wallet, original Driver’s gloves, an original Diablo press release book, tool kit, two keys, a handful of service records, and exceptionally rare matching Keith Collins custom floor mats, built specifically for this car.

Arguably one of the purest and most original first-generation Diablos in existence, this is truly an exceptional car that deserves to be cherished.
