Following a concept shown at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show, the production BMW i8 Roadster was first announced in 2016 with the car entering production in early 2018. For the roadster, battery cell capacity was increased and electric power output was increased by 12 bhp to 143 bhp. Along with the car’s existing 1.5-litre three-cylinder gasoline powered engine, this made for a combined total output of 369 bhp. The i8 Roadster boats a 0-100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds, leading to a top speed of 250 km/h, with an all-electric range of 53 km.
