  • Factory left-hand-drive example, with original engine
  • Numerous options, including electric windows
  • Accompanied by build documentation and partial invoices and records
  • A classic modern Rolls-Royce in the grand tradition

Rolls-Royce’s most popular model between 1955 and 1960, the original Silver Cloud featured proven mechanicals appropriated from the earlier Silver Wraith, including a 4.9-liter inline six-cylinder engine and four-wheel drum brakes, wrapped in elegant new coachwork drawn by John Blatchley. Most often seen with factory ‘Standard Steel Saloon’ coachwork, it was a superb luxury automobile, true to the tradition of its manufacturer for superbly engineered automobiles.

The example offered here was ordered as a factory-built left-hand-drive model, in Cellon Blue over Beige interior, and retains its original engine identified on the factory build documents. The same build sheets record fitment of automatic transmission, electric windows, radio with additional rear seat speaker, fog lights, and driver’s side mirror. Upon completion, the car was exported to San Francisco from Liverpool, aboard SS Cairnforth. Cosmetically restored, it is beautifully finished inside and out, with a good shine to its paint and tight, fresh upholstery. The wood trim remains original, as do the finishes under the hood. At the time of cataloguing the odometer recorded 4,055 miles. The car is accompanied by a history file with documentation dating back to 1967. Most recently, $7,200 was spent on overhauling the brakes, and the car has been driven approximately 150 miles since.

This is a lovely Silver Cloud, with a beautiful and satisfyingly authentic presentation from stem to stern, deserving of a home in any Rolls-Royce collection.
