Unreleased to the public, the Nike Air Jordan IV Retro Travis Scott ‘Purple Suede’ was first seen on DJ Chase B’s feet during Travis Scott’s launch of the Air Jordan IV ‘Houston Oilers’ sneakers. The elusive purple sneaker would be seen on Scott’s feet throughout 2018, peaking the interest of collectors everywhere. The sneaker would eventually be released as a friends and family drop in 2019.
The Air Jordan IV, one of the most popular models of Air Jordans was created by famed Nike designer Tinker Hatfield. It was the second Air Jordan model that Tinker designed and the second one to feature visible Air. The Air Jordan IV originally came out in 1989 with 4 colors: white and cement grey, white black and red, off-white and military blue, and black and red (Bred). Because of its popularity the Air Jordan IV has seen many innovative collaborations throughout its history.
This pair features a soft purple suede upper with black grid mesh, matte ‘waffle’ eyelets and a translucent grey sole. The heel features the iconic Cactus Jack logo on the right heel and the classic Nike Air logo on the left. It is suggested that this rare pair was made exclusively for Travis Scott’s friends and family.
